ISDN for MIS applications

This paper illustrates how existing and imminent ISDN technology can be usefully applied to the business environment. First, the ISDN interface:) and available ISDN network building blocks are reviewed. This includes the Basic and Primary Rate interfaces, telephones, work stations, personal computers, distribution media, premises switching machines, LANs, host computers, transmission facilities, and network switches. Next, useful applications with specific configurations of these building blocks are described. These applications are partitioned according to those which can be implemented within a single business customer premises and those which take advantage of the wide area netw<?rking capabilities of ISDN.
